Zac Posen's New York Fashion Week autumn/winter 2016 show was among the week's most talked about, due to his diverse line-up of models. This sparked an ugly online response when M.A.C Instagrammed an image of a black model's full lips. The New York Times picked up on issue and the growing fashion industry and film world debate about diversity. The designer and M.A.C expressed dismay at the negative anonymous comments.

The show’s easy hair and beauty look drew on ideas of natural beauty, applicable across the races. It contrasted in style with Posen’s just launched high-glamour Old Hollywood influenced collaboration with M.A.C, but both approaches have a focus on fuss-free ways to achieve a desired look. If you want to make like a Zac-ette - the name given to the designer’s fans and brand ambassadors- follow this easy advice.

Make-up
Diane Kendall for M.A.C said she was inspired by diverse natural beauty. The overall effect was clean skin, with eye and lip emphasis, most notably in a burgundy colour we will be seeing more of this season.

Face: Sheer coverage, with concealer used on any flaws. Powder Blush in Taupe was used on models with fairer skin and M.A.C Studio Conceal and Corect Palette/Dark in NW55 on dark tones, blended under cheekbones for soft contour. Powder Blush in Cubic on fairer models and on all the yet to be released highlighter M.A.C Studio QuikTrik Stick in Softly Does It.

Eyes: Brows wer slighting defined in their natural shape and tone. Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline was used through the outer half of the eyelid and pulled outwards to elongatg. Eye Shadow in Carbon applied over the kohl pencil  to set. Lashes were curled and then swept with Haute & Naughty Lash inn Black to lift and define. Sable Eye Shadow on fair tones and Shawody Sclupting Powder Pro palette on deeper tones was pulled through the crease of the eye to contour and following the liner shape through the outer corner.

Lips: The standout shade was achieved with Lip Pencil in Chestnut followed by upcoming Liptstick In My Fashion with Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in High Drama to finish. The nude look was newbie lipstick due later called Sheer Madness.

Hair
Odile Gilbert using Moroccanoil followed the individual approach to beauty, with differing styles on differing models, united by an easy wear approach. For longer styles, hair was twisted into a textured chignon at the back-middle of the head and secured with a hair twist. To get the look:

1. Start with damp hair and apply defining cream or mousse. (For the show Moroccanoil Treatment was used first for increased manageablility. Then, depending on model's hair needs, Moroccanoil Curl Defining or Beach Wave Mousse was scrunched through to help lock in natural curls or add effortless volume.

2. Next protect hair and enhance styling before loosely blow-drying. Try Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection Spray.

3. After drying a finishing product adds light moisture, with Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream or Moroccanoil Smoothing Lotion used.

4. Spray for a gritty non-greasy finish to hair. Depending on texture, Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray or Moroccanoil Texture Clay was used.

Nails
Keri Blair for M.A.C opted for either a dark or nude polish. Her polychromatic dimensional black nail was a mix of two coats of Nocturnelle and Mean Green lacquers, with a clear top coat for a high-gloss finish. The nude was two coats of Stun, followed by Over Lacquer.
