Street Acrobats, Ponsonby Three Lamps by George Baloghy, $12,000
This detailed Ponsonby scene takes artistic licence in the juxtaposition of Ponsonby and the city's landmarks, many of which would not normally be seen together from this vantage point, such as the Sky Tower and Vero Centre. The two figures in the foreground are borrowed from Picasso's 1905 painting Young Acrobat on a Ball — this work is part of an ongoing series by the artist of Picasso figures in Auckland landscapes.

Untitled 1 October (2016) by Viky Garden
Viky Garden's new self-portraits are rendered in a more painterly and expressionist style than previous work and in a more abstract manner. The faces reveal less definition with a greater emphasis on chiaroscuro.
The gestural and lively application of paint supports the somewhat distorted yet alluring nature of the subject.
