1. The inaugural Africa Fashion Festival is on this Saturday, with eight African creatives showing their designs. Organised by Africa Design Journey through Australasia (ADJOAA), the festival's focus is providing a platform for vibrant and diverse African design talent in Australasia. 2. Contemporary Pacific label MENA are set to show their latest collection in a charity runway show this Thursday night. Fashion for Fiji will aid cyclone Winston relief work in Fiji, raising funds for Habitat for Humanity. There will also be live entertainment, spot prizes and Pacific food.

3. As part of Alt Group's POP events that have been happening around town, a specially designed dog pavilion will be set up in Victoria Park this Saturday. Take along your pooch to pose for a personalised portrait, taken by a professional photographer.

4. This Friday, Homestead will be hosting the first event of their winter dinner series, The Dinner Crowd. Set in Pah Homestead's drawing room, the three course dinner offers guests a chance to experience the historic building at night time.

5. This will be the last weekend of NZ Music Month, with plenty of events still happening across the country. On the line-up is the Sugar & Spice Disco at Golden Dawn on Friday night, as well as the Auckland Youth Choir performing at St Matthew-in-the-City on Saturday.

6. Take a look at the LED works from NZ-born multimedia artist Jade Townsend on display in Scotties stores over the next month. Initially commissioned by Comme de Garcons for its I.T Beijing Market concept store, the works examine consumerism and the high-end retail experience. Read the artist's guide to Beijing.

7. Tim Melville Gallery is currently showing Mirror by Johl Dwyer. Dwyer's works aim to prompt contemplation and challenge the notions of painting.

8. The Auckland Art Fair kicks off this week, bringing together 40 contemporary galleries under one roof for five days. Over 150 artists will be exhibiting works and chef Peter Gordon will also curate four popup eateries. Don't miss our guide to help you make the most of the event.

9. Akeakake.World is a new venture from Daniel Anderson that supports and promotes traditional and contemporary Maori art. A week-long pop-up gallery showcasing carvings, objects, paitings and homewares from emerging and established artists will open above Miss Crabb's Ponsonby Rd boutique this Friday night at 6pm.
