Mavrick & Mere Ponsonby Central Pop-up 
A shared passion for high-quality leather goods, handbags and fashion saw best friend duo Amanda and Kristin form their avant-garde handbag label, Mavrick & Mere. The duo debuted their inaugural collection 'Kiss Bang' in March this year, comprising four edgy styles to appeal to the two sides of every woman. Meet the makers behind the luxury leather goods at their Ponsonby Central pop-up shop.

Fiona Pardington at The Vivian 
Matakana's The Vivian beckons for a trip out of the city this weekend. The contemporary art space, located on three acres of grounds, is exhibiting leading artist Fiona Pardington's latest series Midnight at the Crossroads in collaboration with Starkwhite. The opening evening will have musician Nathan Haines and DJ Jaimie Haines, organic pizza, Sawmill beer and Huia Wines. Even better, a free return bus service will run from Starkwhite Gallery to The Vivian (seats limited). If you can't make it the show runs until September 2.

Mackenzie's Daughters at Basement Theatre
Every weekend needs a laugh so don't miss your chance to see the return of sell-out Auckland Fringe show MacKenzie's Daughters at Basement. The hilarious cast won the best ensemble for Comedy at the Fringe Festival and includes Alice Snedden, Kura Forrester, and Rhiannon McCall.

The Music of Comic Con
If you geek out at Comic Con then catch the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra fill Auckland's Town Hall with all the top bangers written for video games, movies and television this Friday. The unique event celebrates all things pop culture and is a first for the NZSO. Yes, the Game of Thrones theme song will be performed.

Majid Jordan at The Powerstation

Auckland Food Show 
The annual Auckland Food Show is back with the opportunity to sample the biggest selection of cuisine and food products from local and overseas producers. You can also browse the latest kitchen equipment, and celebrity chefs such as Nadia Lim and Chelsea Winter will provide cooking demonstrations.

'Streets of Asia' Food Festival at La Zeppa  
Get Ready 'Pho' It ...La Zeppa is bringing the spice at the 'Streets of Asia' food festival this weekend. Head to the Drake St eatery for some of Auckland's top Asian food vendors including Judge Bao, Yummy Thai and Sweet As Crepes (serving a kimchi and hoison special) and dessert dishes include a chilli chocolate and black sesame brulee. There's also a 'sake bomb' happy hour and cocktails, Tokyo Dry beer and live Tokyo DJ-Bar music. Tickets on the door at $5.
