Learn some sweet dance movesBlow them out of the water at the office Christmas party dance-off with some sweet new moves courtesy of the Shut Up and Dance crew. Many of their pre-Christmas classes are sold out but if you're quick you can sign up for Saturday Mornings in Epsom for a discounted rate of $50 (down from $80) for four classes from November 26. Make your own Christmas cardsIf you want to get a few Christmas cards in the bank, head along to Auckland Art Gallery's screen printing workshop with Hayley Pearce from The Art Room this Sunday. Over three hours you'll design your own stencil and print your own gift cards from a selection of six colours. The $95 fee covers all the materials, gets you 15 cards and the stencil to take home, a one-year membership to the gallery (worth $50) and a Membership Welcome Pack including a tote bag. Design a wreath for the front doorImpress the neighbours with your own long-lasting festive wreath this Christmas season. Bread and Butter Letter are hosting an afternoon of wreath-making with master florist Rosie Holt from Rose Tinted Flowers at her Iron Bank studio on Cross St. The class, just $49, gets you the lesson, all the materials, the wreath to take home for your front door, a goodie bag, and a 20 per cent-off coupon to spend in store. Enjoy your garden indoorsGarden Objects has a couple of workshops this side of Santa time — they're also holding a Christmas wreath-making class, with garden florist Felicity Jones of Green is the Thing on December 8 ($120), and on December 14 you can learn the art of flower arranging with Sophie Wolanski of Muck Floral. Sophie will show you how to put together a loose garden arrangement using summer flowers, which you can take home in a simple glass vase. All materials are provided for both workshops, as are refreshments of cheese, wine and non-alcoholic drinks, and guests will receive and in-store discount at their Kohimarama studio. Cook an Italian feastLearn how to prepare a Christmas feast, Italian-style, with Farina's Sergio Maglione at Milly's this Saturday. The two-hour masterclass, $85, will cover three courses: fresh pasta (hand-made crayfish ravioli), secondo (quail, filled with Italian pork fennel sausage wrapped in pancetta, served on eggplant puree with fresh pomegranates) and dolce (panacottalova — an Italian twist on pavalova).You'll enjoy a serving of each dish, and learn some of Sergio's tips and tricks. An in-store discount of 10 per cent is available for some in-store items on the night.
