My Summer: Trelise Cooper

Trelise Cooper will be taking a break from her busy workroom to spend time with family these holidays.

The always-busy fashion designer Trelise Cooper is looking forward to a long break, after another year pushing her brand's boundaries, opening destination boutique Co-op in Takapuna and unveiling a range of homeware with EziBuy, alongside work on her five clothing collections, jewellery range and more. She tells us about her summer plans.

Where I'm Going:
Up north for three weeks of Kiwi laid-back summer on a private beach of a farm, staying in a rustic farmhouse that allows us to kick back and relax. We will fish, go scalloping and hopefully eat lots of crayfish. It is a new discovery for us, on the beach and private. My son Jasper and his wife are home from New York for three weeks and various friends are coming to stay. I love that it will be easy, low key and relaxing.

Where I'm Eating:
We will be eating from the sea and barbecue.

Where I'm Drinking:
From the ice bucket on the deck.

What I'm Wearing:
Bikini, sarong and kaftan.

What I'm Reading:
The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton.

What I'm Making:
Vegan dishes for my son with lots of fresh herbs that we have been growing to take away. I'm also going to be trying a recipe I saw for roasted, caramelised pears with blue cheese and walnuts.

My summer must-haves:
Our new Coop kaftan. A summer essential that we have made especially to be sold from Coop is a beach bike, a cute white cruiser with a big basket of goodies (complete with mobile Eftpos) which will be hitting the beaches and sunny spots around Takapuna over the holiday season.

Something new I want to try this summer:
Smoking the fish we catch on the barbecue with wood chips.
