Are you going to be at the Zara store opening at Sylvia Park today? Hot on the heels of the mass hysteria surrounding last week's H&M opening, Spanish retailer Zara will open the doors to its first New Zealand store at 9.30am.

The single-storey space will have womenswear, menswear and kids' clothing on offer, with stock updated twice a week. All accessories and clothing have been designed specifically for the Southern Hemisphere market.

The retail giant is renowned for its fast reproduction of the latest designer trends, with more than 2000 stores in 88 countries around the world.

For everything you need to know about Zara and the brand's founder, Amancio Ortega Gaona — the second richest man in the world after Bill Gates — read Lisa Armstrong's story in the Daily Telegraph where she discusses everything from why Zara seems more sophisticated than the competition, to whether the brand is a "saint or sinner".

Our opening day pick is this jumpsuit (pictured above, $159), from the store’s 'Join Life' capsule collection. The range is made using organic cotton, recycled wool and tencel, and the campaign stars Russian model Sasha Pivovarova.

H&M and Zara join other international retailers ChanelTopshop, Dune London and Victoria's Secret to recently open stores in New Zealand. Tiffany & Co. is scheduled to open in November.
