Bowl and Arrow
Healthy wholefoods favourite Bowl and Arrow has been so successful that it's just opened a bricks and mortar store in the new Orakei Bay Village. The team are best known for their signature thick and creamy smoothie bowls, with veggies, fruit, superfoods and coconut, topped with paleo granola, banana and freeze-dried raspberries, and also serve raw treats, paleo muffins, coffee, juices and salads. Also poised to open in the village are The Botanist, Espresso Workshop, Brothers Beer, The Chocolatier, Great Little Vineyards and Farro.

The Juniper Room
Pink is the word for Auckland's newest bar The Juniper Room which opens on Fort Lane next Wednesday in the front room of The Jefferson. A pop-up gin cocktail and rose champagne bar, The Juniper Room, designed by The Block judge and renowned interior designer Paul Izzard, will feature 400 different types of gin, 100 at a time, over the next couple of months.

Augustus Bistro
The man behind one of Ponsonby's longest-running restaurants SPQR has opened a new eatery in the old Ponsonby Post Office at Three Lamps. Chris Rupe's Augustus Bistro — opened in partnership with his wife Meegan and daughter Courtney — will offer a smart but casual menu. "I love everything about Italian and French food. I wanted to do something that was fresh, clean and healthy: a casual bistro/brasserie," Chris told Viva this week. The fitout is another Paul Izzard design, in collaboration with British designer Emma Richardson.

Huckleberry Organic Grocer has a new Herne Bay premises on Jervois Rd, its tenth Auckland store stocking natural, organic foods.

The Corner
Remuera has a new all-day casual eatery, The Corner, serving contemporary bistro food such as grilled pork belly and Wakanui beef scotch steak. The venue, on the corner of Remuera and Upland roads, has a slick fit-out also designed by Paul Izzard, and former La Cigale chef Lou Adams is running the kitchen.

Wither Hills Cellar Door and Restaurant
If you're in Marlborough over the summer, make sure you drop into the new Wither Hills Cellar Door and Restaurant, opening in early December. Designer Paul Izzard has been busy — this is his fourth venue in this list. The re-launched restaurant, its first renovation in 10 years, will start off with a lunch-time service matching its wines with locally sourced food.

Vodka Room
Keep 5 Rose Rd on your radar towards the start of next month for the opening of Vodka Room. The Russian-inspired venue will be an eatery by day and bar by night, with six different seating areas and three bars over two storeys, and a standing capacity of 250. It will also have a courtyard and two of the seating areas will be private dining and karaoke rooms. Vodka Room is due to open December 5.
