Those looking for takeaways in Wynyard Quarter will be well-served by Hatchburger. Serving breakfast baps and burgers on fresh brioche buns, plus wraps, salads and Atomic coffee, this opening by Nick Ward (of TV show The Food Truck) is sure to be a popular everyday go-to.

Monzu, Mt Eden
With an authentic Italian menu and two passionate chefs at the helm, new restaurant Monzu has moved into Merediths' former spot on Dominion Rd. Owned by Gaetano Spinosa (O'Sarracino), pictured, and Flavia Nascimento (who has worked alongside him for 10 years), the menu echoes the simple yet delectable flavours of Gaetano's childhood in Napoli. The Butcher's Son, Herne Bay
A new eatery brimming with delicious options for vegetarians and vegans has just opened on Jervois Rd. The Butcher's Son is serving up plant-based burgers, tacos, nachos, mezze platters and all-day breakfasts, plus smoothie bowls and an enticing kids menu. Don't leave without trying some of their baking, or a slice of their tiramisu.

Mad Samurai, CBD
Healthy breakfasts of protein and steamed vegetables, Wagyu beef and traditional Japanese dishes are on offer at inner-city opening Mad Samurai. For dinner, there are shared plates of sashimi, spring rolls, Okonomiyaki pancakes, agedashi tofu and karaage chicken, as well as mains of sushi, salmon, salads and steak.
