1. Try Masu's new Nichiyo Brunch (aka Sunday brunch, pictured above). From this Sunday, the Japanese restaurant's version of yum cha will replace the lunch menu for a limited time. There are bento boxes and a playroom for the kids, and sashimi, maki rolls and bloody marys for the grown-ups. Sundays, 11am-3pm, $58pp, not including drinks. $26 for children, free for under 5.

2. Ima Deli is opening especially for the Mother's Day, with a Middle Eastern feast. Ima, which means mother, will serve a special breakfast menu from 8.30am, and a set lunch from 12pm. $24 will buy you a 0plate of whole rotisserie lamb, salads and house-made pita (the best in town), plus desserts from Sweet Cuisine's Brian Campbell (ex Milse).

3. Brian Campbell is also producing special gift sets and gateaux for lucky mums. The gift set, $45, includes his signature truffles, marshmallows, chocolate bars and cookies plus a jar of Heilala and salted caramel spread. The lemon, passionfruit, chocolate and hazelnut gateau is $60.
