"On a cold winter's afternoon drinking red wine and eating pizza in front of the fire at Waiheke's Fenice restaurant is perfect after a walk on the beach. The pizzas are the perfect size for two to share, the bases are neither too thin nor too thick, and the toppings always fresh and tasty. Our favourite, The Prosciutto with pesto, mozzarella, fresh baby spinach and prosciutto." Amanda Linnell, managing editor

"Farina's pizzas are a beautiful thing picked up while you double park on Ponsonby Rd or, preferably, eaten at the bar with a cold glass of vermentino. My favourite is the Pugliese: those strong, sharp tastes of the peasant's pantry chili, anchovies, olives and capers fighting for attention over a background of sweet tomato sauce and mozzarella." Jesse Mulligan, eating out editor

"I love a good New York-style pizza, and the Epolito's house pies are the best in town. On the flipside, I'm a big fan of the Margherita at Gorgeous on Dominion Rd for something traditional, followed closely by their dreamy Eva pizza a crusty base topped with chargrilled chicken, roasted potato, mozzarella and then doused in garlic and herb butter sauce. It's basically a Sunday roast on a pizza. Genius." Dan Ahwa, fashion editor

"I'm not vegan but I'm quite obsessed with the vegan offerings at Il Buco. Who knew that mushrooms and parsley could be so tasty? And that you didn't need to pile on the cheese to have an authentic(ish) and delicious pizza experience?" Rebecca Wadey, wellbeing editor

"The wood fire pizza at Archie's in Newmarket feels like one of the best kept secrets in Auckland, even though it's always teeming with customers. They hooked me in with $10 lunch pizzas a few years ago, and even though the prices have steadily risen, I've never been able to stop going back for the goods. Order the prosciutto and mushroom or chicken and pesto." Jessica Beresford, digital content producer

"I'm not the world's biggest blue cheese fan and thanks to my 'Just Pizza Maker' stone oven I think my pizzas are up there but SPQR's wild mushrooms, crispy sage and Kikorangi blue cheese variety never fails to win me over." Rebecca Barry Hill, writer

"When a delivery of Toto's metre-long pizza arrives at the door, I almost always squeal with excitement. They are the perfect way to feed the masses and if you haven't tried their Boscaiola pizza (champignon mushrooms, mozzarella, baby spinach, roasted pine nuts, cream, parmesan, truffle oil) you haven't really lived. Rosie Kelway, writer

"Stumpy's makes delicious pizza my go to is the Pepperoni, it has three simple toppings on a wood-fired base with New Zealand mozzarella. Yum. You can really tell they use quality ingredients. And they're fast place an order by phone and it's ready by the time you jump in the car and drive down the road." Beth Walsh, designer

"Pizza is my absolute favourite, and there are too many brilliant spots in Auckland for me to choose just one. I prefer my pizza simple, with a thin crust, and rate Epolito's, Dante's, Gorgeous (where they're named after models; my pick being the 'Kate Moss'), Prego, Stumpy's. Or for something a little less fancy but just as delicious, there's the cheese pizza by the slice from Sal's." Zoe Walker, associate editor

"Da Sette Soldi is an unpretentious wee gem that has been creating the very best pizzas for years. They make bases other establishments can only dream of well worth driving across Auckland in rush hour traffic for." Anna Lee, editorial assistant
