Gentle Gourmet, Paris
This restaurant has been at the forefront of vegan dining in Paris since it opened nine years ago. Their menu changes with the seasons and features locally grown vegetables, vegan versions of butter, cream and cheeses. They also run a vegan cooking school if running away to France and becoming a top chef happens to be on your bucket list.

The owners of London fine-dining restaurant Vanilla Black have garnered a lot of attention for their unconventional take on vegetarian food. They have a very straightforward and non-preachy approach to vegetarianism and simply wanted to create a place free of typical or boring plant-based options. However, their food is far from simple, using modern gastronomic techniques and interesting ingredients, presented in bright and beautiful ways.

Alibi, Sydney
A new cocktail bar and restaurant with a fully vegan menu, designed by innovative US chef Matthew Kenney, has opened in Sydney. Alibi is the first plant-based restaurant to open in an Australian hotel and is housed on the ground floor of Ovolo Woolloomooloo. Choose from plates of kimchi dumplings with sesame and ginger foam, zucchini lasagne with pistachio pesto and desserts such as coconut cream pie and deconstructed tiramisu.

Candle 79, NYC
Relaxed and elegant, Candle 79 has been impressing New York with its organic, plant-based offerings for years now and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reviews often mention the guacamole timbale which comes with chipotle black beans, pico de gallo, plantain chips and ranchero sauce, as well as their selection of cocktails.
