THE BRIT AWARDS 1997: COOL BRITANNIA

A Union Jack print and a peace sign on the back — a tea-towel sewn together was what Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) wore for the group’s performance of Who Do You Think You Are?. The performance cemented the arrival of the 90s girl group, each wearing a look that defined their nicknames, Ginger, Sporty, Posh, Scary, Baby, and celebrating individual style and ‘Girl Power’ to a generation of mesmerised pre-pubescent teens.
