From sun protection to perfect skin – hey they’re related! – we’re looking ahead to improving our personal care. Here’s how

I plan to streamline my routine to include products with active and effective ingredients, have salon treatments on a regular basis, drink lots of water and keep applying plenty of sunblock. — Amanda Linnell, editor

To never leave the house without SPF on my face plus a hat and sunglasses in summer. Also, to start using eye cream. — Sarah Downs, writer

Another year has gone by and I realise my previous resolution to take better care of myself from the chin down has again been largely ignored. My facial routines are simple and effective, but in 2020 I really need to lavish more care on my body, starting with diligently extending my skincare to the neck and décolletage and not being so lazy about moisturising my arms and legs. Simple stuff, that I need to continue beyond summer. — Janetta Mackay, beauty editor

I'm keen to investigate LED teeth whitening further — I had one session in Singapore in September and my teeth lightened by four shades after only about 40 minutes under the lights. I'm also curious to try Botox after several unlikely suspects I know have dropped it casually into conversation that they're enthusiasts, much to my surprise. — Shandelle Battersby, acting commercial editor

My beauty resolution is to hone in on taking care of my skin! Whether that be seeing a dermatologist regularly, or narrowing down a good skincare routine that works for me, 2020 is the year I aim for perfect skin. My other resolution is to keep having fun with makeup, which is something I love doing, and trying out new and zany looks to scare people in the office with. — Rosie Herdman, assistant fashion editor

I would like to be more creative with my hair — both embrace my natural curls and finally learn how to do a proper blow wave at home. — Saru Krishnasamy, digital editor

I’m out to minimise my beauty product collection. I have already done this with skincare by investing time into having a consistent skincare regime with one set of products that works for my skin. Now I plan to target my overflowing makeup bag. I might need to call on Marie Kondo. — Lucy Casley, designer

My New Year's beauty resolution for 2020 is to get more sleep and drink more water. I tried red light therapy and cryotherapy recently (in L.A of course) and could see the benefits of it, so I'd try it again for 2020. And keen to try more products with hemp and CBD oil. — Dan Ahwa, creative director & fashion director

I plan on paring back and taking the time to learn more about my skin. I've been interested in Skinography's treatments such as their intuitive facials. Learning and relaxing at the same time, what could be better! I am also going to make time to look after and style my hair properly, instead of resorting to a quick bun every day. — Annabel Dickson, fashion assistant
