10 Ways To Support India's Covid-19 Crisis

From New Zealand fundraisers to on-the-ground initiatives in India, here are some ways you can help the country's relief effort

Klay is raising money for non-profit NGO Manav Sadhna’s relief work in Ahmedabad with a giveaway of books, stationery and cushions. To enter, donate USD$25 here and email a screenshot to hello@klay.co.nz.

Sid & Chand Sahrawat are donating $5 (diners can top up this amount further) from every table served at Sidart, Cassia and Sid at the French Cafe during May to support Bhartiya Samaj and the High Commission of India in NZ to send oxygen concentrators to India.

KKSS (Kalaiselvi Karunalaya Social Welfare Society) is a registered organisation that supports women, children, elderly and vulnerable people in Tamil Nadu – providing services like family counselling, balwadis (preschools), children's homes, aged care, addiction treatment. With Covid-19 now in its centre and affecting the people it helps, KKSS is fundraising for urgent help.

Soap dance hall is hosting an evening of readings on Thursday May 13 to raise money for community-led mutual aid funds. Featuring Anisha Sankar, Saraid de Silva, Samuel Te Kani, Jade Kake, Selina Ershadi, Karamia Müller and Huni Mancini. You can donate on the night, and Soap is giving a portion of bar takings too. General Sleep will be donating $10 from every pyjama set it sells during May to the World Vision Covid 19 India Crisis Appeal.

East is hosting a Dine For India event on May 20 (bookings are recommended) with all proceeds donated to UNICEF's Covid-19 response through Vodafone’s fundraising initiative, which sees the telco brand adding $30 to every $10 donated.

NZ Herald has teamed up with World Vision to support India in its fight against the COVID-19 outbreak — publishing stories from the frontline, and platforming the NGO’s donation drive.

HelpNow is a student-run ambulance and logistics network that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It transports people with covid, supplies, and medical workers, and its trained paramedics and ambulances help support over-run hospitals in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune. It is asking for donations to fund its work and scale up.

Mutual Aid India has collated a curated and vetted list of mutual aid initiatives that need donations — much of it focused on marginalised groups like daily wage earners, migrant workers, and families with Covid-19.

Mission Oxygen India focuses on providing much-needed oxygen for Covid-suffers, and is taking donations to fund its effort.
