If you've never been to a Pecha Kucha event, you're missing out. The public speaking format was devised to meet our dwindling attention spans and cover more ground. Each speaker presents a slideshow of 20 images shown for 20 seconds apiece, giving a total time of 6 minutes, 40 seconds.

Tonight's event includes a typically diverse range of creatives waxing lyrical on their work and ideas: teacher and columnist Claire Chateau on Being in the Flow; architect Joanna Hurst on A Tale of Two Streets; shutterbug Aaron K on New Zealand's best advertising; editorial photographers Dan Shanan and Alex Lee; directors of the Documentary Edge Festival and many more.

Kingsland Studios carpark, 6 Kingsland Terrace. Doors open 7.30pm, event starts  8.20pm. $10 cash door sales. If the weather's fine, it will be held outside, so bring a cushion. www.pechakucha.co.nz
