Watch Licorice Pizza
Paul Thomas Anderson's gorgeous coming-of-age comedy-drama wends through the San Fernando Valley with a funny, charming effervescence as Alana Kane (Alana Haim, of pop-rock group Haim) and Gary Valentine (Cooper Hoffman) hustle, flirt and try to find love. Expect A-list cameos from Bradley Cooper, who plays real-life Hollywood producer Jon Peters, and Sean Penn, a greying movie star. The film is tinted with nostalgia, where the 70s is brought into a hazy, hypnotic focus. Available to watch in cinemas across the country.

Check out Corbin Rd's new home
Slow beauty has a new home in Napier, with the unveiling of Corbin Rd's first bricks-and-mortar store in the heart of Hawke's Bay's premier shopping precinct. Previously only available online and via a handful of independent retailers, Corbin Rd has transformed an historic Louis Hay building into a beauty haven. Expect to see the brand's pared-back natural skin and body care lining the shelves, alongside beauty tools like gua sha and cult-favourite Sculpta 6000, cosmetics by Aleph Beauty, and tinctures from Absolute Essentials.

It's an exciting milestone for founder Wendy Nowell-Usticke. "It's lovely to have customers come in and be able to touch, smell and try our products as well as obtain expert, individual advice from the team," she says. Stay tuned for another announcement over the coming months, with Wendy teasing she's been busy dreaming up an urban wellness sanctuary and health retreat offering within the same location to complement her new retail store. Visit Corbin Rd, 58 Dalton St, Napier. Open 10am-5pm weekdays and 10am-4pm weekends.

Celebrate Pride Month
Myriad of socially distanced and online events abound for Pride Month. Indulge in Too Much Hair, a "gender euphoric musical" (5-7 February); join virtual knitting event Queer Yarns (6-20 February); tune in to the Rialto Channel's film programme acknowledging LBGTQIA+ communities (4-25 February); peruse Samora Kake and Edith Amituanai's public art installation Family Portraits at Corban Estate Art Centre (on now until 27 February); talk books as part of the same-same-but-different literary festival (18-20 February); and much more. Visit Aucklandpride.org.nz/whats-on for up-to-date information on events, and for tickets.

Watch The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window
This spoof on the woman-witnesses-a-murder-in-the-house-across-the-road trope is, on no uncertain terms, merciless. But it is also underpinned by a seriousness that Anna (Kristen Bell), a grieving mother nursing her pain with wine, delivers with all the tautness of a jumpy, whodunit thriller. Available to watch on Netflix.

Listen to Mitski's new album
Lovers of indie-pop should listen to the American-Japanese artist's hotly anticipated new album Laurel Hell, which will be released on February 4, via Dead Oceans. "[I] needed to create something that was also a pep talk," she said of Laurel Hell.
