1. French Film Festival
The 11th Alliance Française French Film Festival is now on at cinemas around the country, with new and classic films screening - this weekend's include Julie and the Shoe Factory and the wonderful 1964 musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg starring Catherine Deneuve.

2. Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again
If you're in need of encouragement to speak up and have your voice heard, Silo Theatre's latest performance Revolt. She said. Revolt Again is sure to inspire. Exploring sex, motherhood, career and beyond from a distinctly feminist view point, the play isn't afraid to get messy.

4. International Women's Day Fundraising Event
Wellington's City Gallery is holding a fundraising event in collaboration with the UN Women National Committee Aotearoa New Zealand this Friday. Women including ActionStation director Marianne Elliott, poet Hera Lindsay Bird, theatre director Nina Nawalowalo, curator Claire Regnault and actor and director Madeleine Sami will respond to their favourite photograph in the Cindy Sherman exhibition. $10 from every ticket sold supports the UN Women's projects to end violence against women and girls in the Pacific.

9. Auckland Arts Festival
The annual Auckland Arts Festival began earlier this week, filling the city with vibrant music, dance, theatre and art until the end of the month. The diverse programme includes works performed in English, Maori, Cantonese, Samoan, Tongan, Spanish, French, Serbian, as well as audio description and New Zealand Sign Language. One of our picks is Auckland Theatre Company's contemporary take on the classic play Peer Gynt [recycled], opening tonight at the ASB Waterfront Theatre.
