Indie Book Fair at Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery
Te Uru's event in Tiriangi is not to be missed for small batch book lovers and to support local creatives. The book fair stocks independent design, handmade publications, artists books, catalogues and this year's participants include Art Space, Baker Douglas, Compound Press, Inky Palms, and Object Space. There's also a free button badge making stall, where you can browse vintage art magazines to create your own badge to take home.

Craft Chocolate Pop-up at Ponsonby Central 
Keep those weekend feelings sweet at Ponsonby Central’s pop-up courtesy of Wellington’s chocolate curators The Chocolate Bar. Taste and buy the best of local craft chocolate and return in the evenings for ticketed tasting events where chocolate will be paired with Eight Thirty coffee, Fine and Dandy Tea and Six-Barrel Soda. The makers will be on site to meet and share free daytime talks and new chocolate maker, Foundry Chocolate, will have a tasting premiere.

La Bohème Opera at ASB Theatre 
Put a date in your diary to see NZ Opera's rendition of Puccini's Italian masterpiece La Bohème, produced by Jacqueline Coats. La bohème will feature some of the best young local singers in the Freemasons New Zealand Opera Chorus alongside the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. Whether you're an opera newbie or connoisseur, La bohème is set to remind what it means to be alive and in love.

For the month of September diners at Clooney can craft their own degustation menu from 256 options (16 dishes across four courses). The break away from a traditional set degustation menu means customers can create a menu to suit exact preferences and enjoy fine dining at value by having total control. All dishes are created by head chef Nobu Lee, using 100 per cent locally sourced produce.

Kate Small exhibition at Anna Miles Gallery
Artist Kate Small’s exhibition Backyard Oasis has just opened at Anna Miles Gallery. Her works draw in the viewer, providing an uneasy vignette via their sparse edges and purposeful focal point. She has an eye for ordinary social interactions and an appreciation for the mastery of paint as a medium, displayed in works that are at once remarkably detailed and pared back, complemented by her wonderful use of colour.
