Neighbourhood Watch: Where To Eat, Shop & Visit In Titirangi

From quaint cafes to breathtaking bush walks, here's what's good in Auckland's lushest suburb

Park Road Kitchen
A cute and classic cafe, Park Road Kitchen is just off busy South Titirangi Road. Its industrial decor is broken up by lots of leafy-green arrangements, in a nod to its lush surroundings. This calming backdrop is ideal for enjoying a sweet treat and a coffee or sitting down to a leisurely brunch — Park Road does eggs particularly well. 120 Park Rd, Titirangi

Immersed in native bush, this boutique restaurant and wine bar is a hive of evening activity. iTi is situated in the heart of the village and, dependent on the time of day, serves up a selection of goodies from brioche-bun burgers to build-your-own eggs Benedict. 421 Titirangi Rd, Titirangi

Deco Eatery
The lobby of Lopdell House was remodelled into the beautiful Deco Eatery in 2014. With striking blue Mediterranean tiles underfoot and a mix of blonde wood and white walls, the space feels lights and fresh. As for the menu, an impressive list of Turkish-inspired dishes is served from breakfast until dinner. 418 Titirangi Rd, Titirangi

Titirangi Village Market
The beating heart and soul of Titirangi is the monthly market, held on the last Sunday of every month from 10am until 2pm. Supporting small local businesses is easy when quality crafts, clothing, preserves and produce are readily at hand. Live music from some of Auckland’s best folk musicians brings vibrancy to the market, plus it’s partly indoors, which means it’s a worth a visit rain or shine. 500 South Titirangi Rd, Titirangi

Vevo Foodstore
At the end of a strip of shops on the main road is a small but sprightly cafe that really provides on the food front. While the spunky decor is appealing enough, the food ranges from cabinet food to pick-up dinners, with west Auckland’s own Mt. Atkinson Coffee served all day. A visit to this cafe might even tempt you to look into their classy catering services for your next function. 400 Titirangi Rd, Titirangi

Exhibition Drive Walk
Titirangi is blessed with loads of native bush and is a mecca for beautiful walks. Exhibition Drive promises to take between one and one-and-a-half hours — less if you’re willing to run or cycle it. Views of Manukau Harbour views do not disappoint, and the Lower Nihotipu Dam serves as a rewarding end. Exhibition Drive, Titirangi

Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery
A striking lime green building is the first thing art lovers see on arrival at Te Uru, a sign of things to come inside perhaps. The ever-changing gallery largely promotes New Zealand artwork, but retains an international perspective to remain ‘globally minded’. Their mission is to inspire, engage and challenge, and promises to be an afternoon well spent. 420 Titirangi Rd, Titirangi

Stripe Cafe
Nothing feels more homely than a brightly-themed, old brick building with additional humble courtyard. Perfect for the kids (and adults at that), Stripe Cafe caters for all with its varied menu, as well as the choice of indoor/outdoor seating. Just be quick to nab a table though, as sunny weekend brunches see the establishment brimming with hungry customers. 521 South Titirangi Rd, Titirangi

That Little Shop
This lifestyle boutique on the cusp of the suburb is a beautiful take on the natural, minimalist aesthetic. The carefully refined selection of homewares, clothing and knick knacks is great for sourcing that perfect gift, or simply for a fun weekend browse. 108 Atkinson Rd, Titirangi

Yoga West
Its location in Titirangi makes Yoga West the ideal escape from busy city life. Many classes are in high demand thanks to the hand-picked collective of teachers, each with a unique approach to the ancient Eastern tradition. Try the Sunday Sundowner Candlelit Yin to start your week off right. 506 South Titirangi Rd, Titirangi
