How to Survive Womad 2016

1. Don't stress about the timetable. Lots of acts play more than once over the weekend and the smaller stages offer a more intimate experience.

2. Womad is a Zero Waste Event, so make use of all the recycling stations.

3. It gets chilly at night, so layer up.

4. Forget about your paleo/low carb diet. The food is delicious and, while you're inspired, check out the cooking classes hosted by some of the acts.

5. Leave your 'I can't dance' mind set at home. Take your shoes off and feel the grass between your toes.

6. Take a picnic rug and make a homebase in the shade during the day. Don't forget a hat, and there are plenty of sunscreen stations about if you sweat it off.

7. Cash is king.

8. Sunday night's grand finale showcases the best of Womad all mixed together. Don't miss it!

9. There can be lots of people at Womad, but even at full capacity, it isn't usually too crammed. If you’re not a fan of crowds, make a spot for yourself near your favourite stage, and make regular visits to the new Chill Out zones.

10. Bringing the kids? Why not write your mobile number on their arm with a waterproof marker, or even make them their own special lanyard with your contact details on it.
