Nostalgia and modernity combine with this stand-out handbag, $345, from local accessories label Georgia Jay’s latest collection. A play on the baguette bag, Fendi’s famous 90s accessory, it fits with the brand’s signature timeless simplicity while also being a covetable nod to the original “It” bag.

“For us, this season is a continuation of developing products that are functional and beautifully streamlined,” says the brand’s founder and designer Georgia Davidson.

A word she feels captures the essence of Georgia Jay is “pizzazz”, meaning “an attractive combination of vitality and glamour”. Included in the latest release are also delightful mini versions of the popular “Ombra” style, a small top-handled bag, and a wide “Boat Basket” bag for when mini doesn’t cut it. New colours and textures make it hard to choose a favourite, but this rich dark emerald is a close contender for winter.

With the Spice Girls touring again this year, and 90s fashion still very much en vogue, why not delve back into the era with an accessory that, as Carrie in Sex and the City put it, is not merely a bag; it's a baguette.
