Recycle Boutique has added e-commerce to its retail line-up, meaning thrifty fashion fans can now shop the range before it hits stores.

Purveyors of pre-loved clothing since 2005, now with ten stores around New Zealand, the consignment company decided it was time to expand online - giving more people the chance to shop their range.

Recycle Boutique has also developed its own software for the digital service, making consigning items with them easier than ever.

Convenient, streamlined and user-friendly, the website showcases a curated selection of vintage, designer and contemporary pieces. Each item will be available exclusively online for two weeks, before heading to one of the company's stores. Sellers can drop off to store or (if located in Auckland, Christchurch or Queenstown) book a pick-up, and can track the progress of accepted items on their online account.

Second-hand fashion and the resale economy is booming – diverting waste from landfill, offering affordable pricing, and supporting a custodian model of ownership – and the company processes around 700,00 items annually.

With many of Recycle Boutique's customers and consignors being digital-natives, their new online venture is sure to be a hit with vintage fans around the country.

It’s just the latest news on the sustainable fashion front, as New Zealanders embrace a circular fashion model and awareness grows about the impact recycling, reusing and reselling items can have.
