American Express Restaurant Month Announces A Delicious Programme For 2018

When it comes to Auckland’s dining scene, there’s already a fair bit to be excited about, but American Express Restaurant Month is set to take things up a notch this August.

There are more than 100 special menus to enjoy (all at delicious prices), dozens of pop-ups, and appearances from international chefs.

The Curious Food Festival
Find us at The Curious Food Festival: a one-off market where over a dozen restaurants will be serving the most imaginative dishes they can think of, amid entertainment from local DJs and performers. August 18, 12pm-8pm. Shed 10, Queens Wharf.

Clayton Wells at Culprit 
Acclaimed chef Clayton Wells (ex-Momofuku, Noma) will be bringing five courses of the impeccable food from his Sydney restaurant, Automata, to Culprit for two nights. He'll join chefs and co-owners Kyle Street and Jordan MacDonald to create dishes that reflect his casual approach to fine dining. Wednesday August 15 and Thursday August 16, 6pm, 7pm and 8pm. The Sugar Club's Fifth Birthday
To kick things off, local favourite The Sugar Club is celebrating its fifth birthday, hosted by Peter Gordon and his two new executive chefs. Special guests for this event include Pip Wylie and Tom Hutchison, who have worked in Wellington and London Sugar Clubs respectively. Wednesday August 1, 6.30pm. A Taste of Wagyu With Roman Petry
Professional wagyu chef Roman Petry is flying in from San Francisco, where he's the executive chef at Japanese restaurant Roka Akor. For one night only, he'll join Nic Watt in Masu's kitchen, to create five flavoursome, wine-matched courses that showcase their skills in the art of wagyu cooking. Thursday August 9, 6.30pm. Kirk Westaway at Clooney 
Clooney will be hosting Kirk Westaway from Singapore's Michelin-starred restaurant Jaan, where he will work with head chef Nobu Lee to share his modern style of classical French cooking. Both chefs are intent on only using the best ingredients to create a refined and elegant style of food. Wednesday August 22, 6.30pm. Clooney, 33 Sale St, City.

Ebisu x Behemoth Brewery
Japanese restaurant Ebisu are joining forces with Behemoth Brewery to create a seven-course dinner expertly matched to both sake and craft beer. Head chef Fred Wong and qualified sake sommelier Wayne Shennan will be taking the reigns to create a dream evening for drink lovers. Tuesday August 28, 6.30pm. 116-118 Quay St, City.
