After a busy week creating the latest concoctions - think sublime ginger or celery tonic syrups - Joseph Slater, one half of the brain behind craft soda brand Six Barrel Soda, spends his Saturday mornings relaxing in the sun with friends, nibbling at bagels, drinking coffee and spending time with his daughter Nina. Take a look at his other weekend plans - from his favourite place to shop, to his weekend getaway spots.

Drinking ... I'll often have an afternoon beer in the courtyard at our bar Monterey.

Dining ... We live in Berhampore so my local cafe is Rinski Korsakov's, it's a great local spot where everyone knows each other and they do an excellent avocado and feta tartine.

If not Rinski's we'll head to Maranui for breakfast and have some beach time with Nina afterwards.

Trying ... I got Plenty More by Ottolenghi for Christmas so there are a stack of recipes in there I'm keen to try out. I've also been told Tatsushi in Wellington is amazing for dinner so we'll head there next date night.

Mornings ... I'm all about the Saturday mornings to be honest. City Gallery andNikau Cafe is a pretty perfect pairing.

Shopping ... I have a standard jeans and New Balance uniform that I get from Good as Gold. I spend a fair amount of time at Moore Wilson's stocking the pantry.

Exploring ... Most of my travel is for work and I love checking out the new places that serve our soda. I'm pretty keen to get to Queenstown to check out The Sherwood.

Anticipating ... We've got tickets to Sharon van Etten in March and I'm really looking forward to that.

Road tripping ... We spent the weekend at a friend's place in the Wairarapa recently and spent the whole drive home plotting how we could move to the country. No cellphones, a river for swimming, lots of great food and rosé in the sun.
