How to Celebrate Sherry Week

Whether you’re going out or toasting at home, here’s host to celebrate this delicious drop

Sherry week is back, with a number of local establishments offering special tastings and menus. It’s a great opportunity to try some exciting Spanish Sherries accompanied by the foods with which they’re so well suited.

Cazador
Cazador’s Rebecca Smidt will be hosting three tastings over Sherry Week in the Cazador Bar. Guests will taste a flight of four Sherries, matched to four different mezze prepared by Cazador chef, Dariush Lolaiy. “Sherry is our favourite wine, and we have at least 14 by the glass at any one time - we're excited to share them during Sherry Week!” Schmit says.
Tuesday November 3, Wednesday November 4 at 6.30pm, and Saturday November 7 at 5pm.
Tickets are $60. Booking essential via reservations@cazador.co.nz or 09 6208730

Ponsonby Road Bistro
Every day of Sherry Week, Ponsonby Road Bistro is offering a tasting plate of Spanish flavours to accompany a flight of three chilled Alvear Sherries. These include the Alvear Fino CB with a bowl of Southern clams with garlic, Manchego and lemon; the Alvear Medium Dry with escabèche of sardines with pickled carrot and red onion and Alvear Asuncion Oloroso with grilled chorizo with membrillo. Throughout the entire week, separate Alvear branded menu/tasting maps will be handed out with the usual a la carte menus to encourage customers to begin their dining experience with the flight of Sherries and tasting plate.
This will run the whole week from Monday 2nd November.

Casita Miro, Waiheke Island
Sherry lover Cat Vosper is once again celebrating this year’s sherry week at her Waiheke restaurant, Casita Miro. This time around it’s tutored Sherry tastings and food matches for $15 each.
