Chanel Haute Couture Fall Winter 2018-19

Never one to disappoint, Karl Lagerfeld’s haute couture offering boasted all the same attention to detail for which the Maison is known and loved.

What came as a surprise, though, was the rockabilly-inspired quiff that tapered just above the eye. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux accentuated every smouldering gaze with shimmering green shadow and daubs of glitter.

Jean-Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall Winter 2018-19

We’re questioning everything we know about accessories after witnessing the bespoke earrings created match every model’s locks at Jean-Paul Gaultier’s haute couture show.

Tresses were gently tousled and swept to one side, while hoop earrings adorned with fishtail braided extensions extended beyond each model’s natural hair length. Porcelain skin was toughened up with the addition of smudged bronze eye shadow.

Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Fall Winter 2018-19

Royal fever continued backstage at Zuhair Murad’s haute couture show, with embellished crowns securing each model’s reign over the runway.

A light veil of foundation and subtle eye makeup prevented the overall look from being too ‘done’. Rich brown shadow was punctuated by touches of gold, while kohl eyeliner made its mark on the upper and lower lash line.

Antonio Ortega Haute Couture Fall Winter 2018-19

The air was thick with pop culture references at Antonio Ortega’s showing at Paris Fashion Week.

A fanciful twist of the double bun saw models locks swept high on top of their heads, and secured to meet in the middle. Gen Z yellow made an appearance on lids, while millennial pink popped on lips. We’re almost tempted to forgo the timeless cat eye in favour of creating the same painterly approach with black liquid eyeliner. Almost.

Georges Chakra Haute Couture Fall Winter 2018-19

Swathes of pink chiffon were runway mainstays at Georges Chakra’s haute couture show, much like the embellished ribbon used to veil model’s eyes with every ultra-feminine look.

Serving dual purpose as a veil and to secure hair into a low bun, these delicate ribbons have us wondering if we, too, can pull this off at our next winter soiree.

Valentino Haute Couture Fall Winter 2018-19

Closing Paris Fashion Week with extra va-va-voom, came Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Valentino Haute Couture Fall Winter 2018-19 show.

We can only begin to imagine the amount of hairspray used to secure this backcombed, voluminous vision from the 80s. Makeup was minimal by comparison, with a simple sweep over taupe eye shadow over lids and a dusting of pink-hued blush over the apples of cheeks.
