In our humble opinion, the best beauty evolutions begin with mid-1990s press photos such as this. A young Victoria was snapped in Paris during a press tour with iconic girl group the Spice Girls, wearing the kind of thick kohl eyeliner and maroon lip liner popular at the time. Note how her smize was her go-to pose even some 23 years ago.

1999

Victoria shed her signature bob before the turn of the millennium, sporting a black shag haircut at the Spice Girls Forever Spice book launch in London. Her new look signified a shift towards her solo career, and the star launched her first single, Out Of Your Mind, the following year.

2003

Stepping out with husband David Beckham (and a fuller bust) at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards, Victoria wore her brunette tresses in a loosely styled half ponytail with layers kept free around her face. A perma-tan, visible blush and highly glossed lips cemented this look in the Noughties.

Bronzed, blonde with bolt-ons – this is the Victoria many of us will remember most. The pop singer debuted her platinum blonde tresses at a Spice Girls conference at the O2 Arena. This hairstyle quickly became known as the ‘Posh lob’, with many women flocking to the salon to try to emulate the star’s most famous cut.

2010

Victoria became a fixture on the international fashion scene after launching her eponymous fashion label two years prior, and the glittering party invitations flooded in thick and fast. At the 2010 Vanity Fair Oscar party, VB opted for an intense black smoky eye, bronzed skin and clever contouring. Extra points for her mushroom manicure that complemented her gown perfectly.

2012

The designer gave us all a lesson in how to make messy hair look chic at the Bergdorf Goodman Fashion Night Out in 2012. Her chocolate locks were loosely plaited and slung over her left shoulder, with strands left poking out to keep things feeling relaxed. It’s by no means an effortless style (so says the beauty team responsible for getting her out of the door on time), but perhaps that’s part of the style’s appeal. For makeup, VB wore an exaggerated smoky eye and glossy peach lip. Anyone else sensing a theme here?

2014

Victoria glowed on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala (and it wasn’t just her highlighter). Capitalising on the glass hair trend, Victoria wore her hair smoothed into a side-part with tousled lengths resting on her shoulder. And surprise, surprise — smoky eye again. The result? Chic, chic, chic.

2017

A bronzed complexion and backcombed chignon were the order of the day when Victoria attended the Breast Cancer Foundation Hot Pink Party in 2017. She clearly didn’t get the pink memo, but we do approve of her dewy complexion, feline flick and nude lips.

She wore navy to Kate and Wills’ royal wedding in 2011, and followed suit for Harry and Meghan’s wedding seven years later. Fluffy brows and voluminous lashes vied for our attention from underneath Victoria’s navy fascinator. Another thing Victoria seemed happy to repeat from the first royal wedding was her hairstyle — except this time she wore her ponytail low with face framing layers kept free.

2019

Victoria looked positively angelic when stepping out at the 2019 Portrait Gala earlier this year. Her perfected complexion was lifted by a shiny peach lipstick, with glossed brows and fanned lashes. But were the products used to create this look from her eponymous beauty label? Only time will tell…
