My Diary: Chloe Hill's Highlights From Australian Fashion Week 2022

Viva's contributing fashion editor wraps up the week filled with fashion, friends and fun

1/16

Jordan Dallah's show was an absolute highlight of my week. We all sat in fold-up camping chairs, the room was carpeted in blue and the fashion was as divine and inspiring as always. Jordan is such an exploding talent, I can’t wait to see what more is to come.

Bumped into Kiwis Beck Wadworth and Kate Fowler before the Oroton show, Very into Kate's preppy sweater and sunnies combo, cute!

Romance Was Born collaborated with Ken Done for this season’s collection, aptly titled the ‘Done Zone’. The show was held at his gallery in The Rocks, which gave me so much nostalgia thinking about the first Australian Fashion Week I attended around the corner at the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Last-minute alterations backstage at Wynn Hamlyn’s debut AAFW show. I’m always amazed by how chill it is backstage at his shows and this one was no different. Easy-going vibes all round.

Took a quick snap of this stylish attendee as I ran between shows on Tuesday. Pink and lime are always a good combo.

Everyone was as eager as me to get a shot of these vibrant dresses, as they took a final turn around the Museum of Contemporary Art for Aje’s beautiful finale.

Florist Christelle Scifo making me a bunch of flowers to-go after Bassike’s late-night dinner and film screening.

Always such a joy to bump into Rob Tennent, had the pleasure a few times this week!

Makeup artist Nicole Thompson (@Pinkiiieee) is the genius behind some of AAFW’s best beauty looks — her personal style is just as amazing.

Designer and actor Aggi Choi wearing Bassike at their dinner. Look up her label @Pachproject, an amazing undertaking that repurposes tiny off-cuts of fabrics into wearable garments.

Cameron Stephens backstage at Gary Bigeni's day one show. Gary’s hand-died prints are such goodies!

Green was the colour of the week! This two-piece lace set from the Oroton show even comes with a coordinating bag, modelled by Kiwi model Beatrys.

Jordan Dallah had his family seated at the end of the runway. It’s always so sweet seeing designers’ nearest and dearest take it all in — so much anticipation and excitement.

Was so terrible at remembering to take snaps of what I wore, Fashion Week is such a fast blur. But here’s what I wore on the final day, a comfy combo of a Wynn Hamlyn sweater with Christopher Esber trousers. My hat is by the very iconic Aussie headwear brand Helen Kaminski.

A Sydney photo diary isn’t complete without this iconic backdrop. It was grey skies almost all week but nothing could detract from this view in my opinion! I’m wearing an Esse dress and my Yu Mei bag.
