CAREY MULLIGAN
Carey Mulligan in a sequin Valentino couture gown is the full-throttle glamour we wanted from these Covid Oscars. She usually wears quite demure Prada on the red carpet (and looks great in it), but it’s nice to see her in something playful and unexpected.

ZENDAYA
We can always rely on Zendaya, and her long-time stylist Law Roach, to bring it to the red carpet. It’s the styling of this look that makes it so good: a floaty, midriff baring, neon Valentino gown worn with effortless hair, makeup and jewels. Fun fact: 300 hours of work went into making it, and it's inspired by a Bob Mackie dress made for Cher.

CHLOE ZHAO
If we’re giving out awards for effortlessness and genuine cool, Chloé wins. The winner of best director is wearing a beaded pleated dress by Hermès, with sneakers and her signature pigtails. Most importantly: in 2021, she is the first woman of colour, and only the second woman ever, to win the award for best director at the Oscars.

H.E.R
Winning Best Song for her nominated song 'Fight For You' from the film 'Judas and the Black Messiah', the talented musician wore a sequin and beaded jumpsuit and hooded cape by Dundas - inspired by Prince’s 1985 Oscars look (when he won best song for Purple Rain). That is cool.

YOUN YUH-JUNG
It has pockets! Best supporting actress winner Youn Yuh-jung’s gorgeous gown is by Marmar Halim, worn with Chopard jewellery.

LAKEITH STANFIELD
The Oscars are typically pretty old-fashioned when it comes to menswear (black bow ties galore), but this year saw some actual *fashion* - like this iconic look from Lakeith Stanfield, a Saint Laurent jumpsuit based on a women’s spring 2021 look.
